Your marriage is much more than a union between you and your spouse. It is a spiritual discipline ideally suited to help you know God more fully and intimately. Sacred Marriage shifts the focus from marital enrichment to spiritual enrichment in ways that can help you love your mate more. Whether it is delightful or difficult, your marriage can become a doorway to a closer walk with God. Everything about your marriage—everything from the history you and your spouse create, to the love you share, to the forgiveness you both offer and seek by turn—is filled with the capacity to help you grow in Christ's character. This six-session, small group DVD curriculum will equip you to love God more passionately, reflect the nature of his Son more precisely, and fulfill God's overarching purpose for your marriage.

Short Review: I really like the full book Sacred Marriage. I have recommended it to a ton of people and given away a number of copies. So I was looking forward to doing the DVD study with my small group. The study went fine, but the DVD and the participant guide suffer from lack of production values. The DVD had points where Gary Thomas was speaking outside by a lake and motor boats goes by and it is hard to hear him. In several other places he was speaking directly into the sun and that made him squint. Other places were just awkward and unintentionally funny.
The participant guide is short. It says 77 pages, but I read each of the six sections in about 5 minutes a piece. The content should have been included in the back of the book or as a free download. The kindle edition includes lots of space to write in (but of course you can't write in a kindle edition).
And while I know I purchased my last copy of Sacred Marriage on sale, the participant's guide was more than the actual book.
On the whole I would suggest skipping the participant's guide (the questions for group discussion mostly alternate between too long questions that have too many parts or Sunday school questions.) Maybe get one for some question ideas, but not everyone needs a copy.
Even better, skip the DVD and read the book.
