Kinda hard to argue the comic series is canon with the first arc in this. My personal headcanon is maybe the universe had a Rick who passed a long time ago, but someone else might be able to give a more creative excuse. Anyway the first arc is pretty decent, it’s very action and drama oriented with not too much comedy but it’s still entertaining. I don’t think the story is too meaningful or interesting however, and it does feel pretty pointless (which I think is the joke). It’s a fine arc but nothing amazing, one of the weaker ones so far. The second arc is a bit more fun, it’s a comic entirely about the ball fondelers and one of their adventures. It’s actually kinda interesting to learn more about this team and the characters genuinely are pretty fun, I could probably read a 6 issue comic series or vindicators 2 style mini series about them. The joke about all the army men having lives is also pretty funny and possibly the best version of this joke in the shows history. The final story is a little interesting in how it portrays alien traditions, but it’s moreso just weird. It’s also not that funny of an issue, but I do like the final joke and the final page is oddly sweet. Definitely the weakest of these 5 chapters but I wouldn’t say any of them are quite bad. The short stories in this are heaps better than the last volume and I’d even argue are the best thing about this one. The Morty box and the doofus Rick one are genuinely thought were scenes from the show and the others are very funny. This volume is definitely weaker than the first but it still captures a lot of the spirit of the show and has some great moments, the specials are definitely the highlight but the main chapters included are definitely not bad.
