Prowling about Panama

This is a strange book. Published in 1919, so the book is dated, but regardless, strange.
It reads partly like a guidebook and partly like a travelogue or record, with short chapters under various headings. It feels like it is written from a detached point of view - there is nothing to draw the reader into the journey, to encourage the reader to participate.
To be honest it is just written in a really boring style.
