Princess Mia may seem like the luckiest girl ever.
But the truth is, Mia spends all her time doing one of three things: preparing for her nerve-racking entrée into Genovian society, slogging through the congestion unique to Manhattan in December, and avoiding further smooching from her hapless boyfriend, Kenny.
For Mia, being princess is not the fairy tale it's supposed to be . . . or is it?

You know, these books are good, solid threes. Halfway through I start wondering why I'm reading a Princess Diaries book instead of a book off the ginormous stack of Books That Will Help Me Write Better and Be Smarter, Generally Speaking. Because these really aren't the most intellectually challenging books on the entire planet.
But then, like at the end of this one, I have this AW moment, and it's totally a fourteen-year-old, I-love-this-book, if-I-can't-be-Mia-I-wish-we-could-be-best-friends feeling.
Also, I want a Michael of my own. :)
I really like this series. Very funny, and great characters. Mia's cat care instructions are one of the funniest things I've ever read.
My one concern is (spoiler, I guess) Mia's love interest's age. Michael's great! But he's going to college and she'll be a sophomore in high school? Ack. On the other hand, 2 of my good friends started dating when he was a HS senior and she was a sophomore and now they are married. So I guess it could happen. I guess it is, in fact, more likely to happen than a girl suddenly discovering that she is a princess. But somehow it FEELS less real! HMMM.
