I love this series and Lucy Parker's writing is like a warm bath - just relaxing and so nice to sink into and forget about everything else for a while (not sure about this simile, but bear with me). Wasn't quite sure about the age gap but it's not too ridiculous.
I don't read a lot of M/F contemporary romances these days, but Lucy Parker is almost enough to make me change my mind. At first glance, the story of a blonde bombshell actress with brains and the demanding theater director who hires her despite describing her as “Helium Barbie” seems pretty run of the mill. He'll realize the error of his ways, she'll learn he has a heart after all and they'll live happily ever after, right? However, Parker provides a lot more depth and nuance to the characters and their relationship. Lily may be smart but she does need to work on her acting and her voice. Both characters have to overcome baggage from former relationships and family dynamics. And most of all, they both have to deal with the antiquated but very real double standard that if their relationship is revealed to the public, Lily will be accused of sleeping her way to stardom, Luc will be commended for nailing a bombshell.Parker takes time to develop the closeness between Luc and Lily so you can really see them fall in love instead of just assuming that banter and sex is good enough. (Sometimes the banter is as little exhausting though.) They earn their HEA and Parker earns a lot of respect from a cynical reader. Looking forward to [b:Making Up 36533218 Making Up (London Celebrities, #3) Lucy Parker https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1520427531s/36533218.jpg 58258896], the next book in the series.
