When seventh-grader Josephine's mother is diagnosed with breast cancer, she wants to keep it secret, even from her best friend. Unfortunately for Josephine, her twin brother, Chance, doesn't feel the same way. And when Chance dyes his hair pink to support his mom, the cat is out of the bag.

A light, quick read. Maybe too light considering the actual problems Josephine is facing? I admit I was sometimes annoyed with Josephine's reactions/focus, but I do think she exhibited some growth over the course of the novel. I think tweens could definitely relate to this story of dealing with bigger issues (like a parent being diagnosed with cancer) while trying to tackle normal middle school pressures and low self-esteem.
