Interestingly, I liked this book much more than the first one despite Colin having been such an antagonistic character in book 1. The conflict felt more realistic, and I also preferred seeing another side to some of the same conversations and issues that were presented in Daniel's book.
This was very raw, and full of angst and emotion.
I very much hated Colin in book 1, he was awful to Daniel. But after getting to know him in this book... my heart breaks for him. I'm so sympathetic and I get it. It wasn't right, but I get it and I just want to wrap him in a hug and never let go.
Colin is very closeted to the point he can't even admit to himself he's gay. Rafael is so patient and understanding with him - I don't know how he did it. He saw into Colin's heart and just knew there was some good in there.
I didn't like this one as much as the first. It was hard to read such self-hate and I wanted more guilt and apologies from him to his brother. I couldn't get myself to like the main character– I kept waiting for it to happen, but next thing I knew the book was over haha. So, writing got me through it, but this isn't one I recommend to people.
