The mastery of a good thriller is in the details and Lee Child delivers a fast-paced, twisty thriller where all the minute details fall together perfectly to engage and entertain the reader. I especially loved the many “lessons” in tactical strategy. The final scene delivers a clever twist that gun enthusiasts will enjoy.
This is my first Lee Child book. And no doubt it's a masterpiece! Jack Reacher has to be one the best crime thriller protagonists ever! Brilliant storyline and an immersive plot. Every page is a gripping tale of mystery, action and suspense. Lee Child has won my heart with this one. Can't wait to explore his other works too. A must read for fans of crime thrillers. Read it for Jack Reacher!
Action packed thriller - definitely one of the books in the Reacher series. A couple of good twists - I didn't quite see the one coming (or at least the reason behind it) I do wish some of the characters had been fleshed out a littler more. And I wish Child would try to find another way to say “Reacher said nothing”.
Darn satisfying read. Pure Child gold. Some nice twists and turns along the way, but from the time that the suspect says “Get Reacher” you know that 1. He's absolutely innocent and 2. The bad guys are going to pay. Just that simple. So why bother going on? Cuz the next 300+ pages will be impossible to turn away from, you will be sucked in the entire time and have a blast the whole time.
That's simply Child's way.
You would think that at some point the Jack Reacher series would get tired. I mean, how can one drifter come across so many ridiculous scenarios in which life and death matters are at stake? Well, so far many times. This one was no different from the rest. Jack Reacher kicks ass.
Manly men doing manly things. It's a whole genre unto itself. This is the 9th book of the Jack Reacher series (currently there are 14 of them). And Jack Reacher is the manliest of men. He's reasonably good-looking, six-foot-six, about 250 pounds of muscles and many scars. He's an ex-Army MP living a rootless existence and finding trouble wherever he goes. When a sniper kills six people in a plaza in Indiana, the sniper is quickly found and says “Get Jack Reacher for me.” Naturally, all is not as it seems. The pages flew in this book. I knocked it off in under a week (which is fast for me). This is only the 2nd Jack Reacher book I've read but probably not the last.
