From the New York Times #1 bestselling author, Ilona Andrews, comes a new tale from the Innkeeper Chronicles “Ilona Andrews’s books are guaranteed good reads.”—Patricia Briggs, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Fire Touched Dina Demille may run the nicest Bed and Breakfast in Red Deer, Texas, but she caters to a very particular kind of guest... the kind that no one on Earth is supposed to know about. Guests like a former intergalactic tyrant with an impressive bounty on her head, the Lord Marshal of a powerful vampire clan, and a displaced-and-superhot werewolf; so don’t stand too close, or you may be collateral damage. But what passes for Dina’s normal life is about to be thrown into chaos. First, she must rescue her long-distant older sister, Maud, who’s been exiled with her family to a planet that functions as the most lawless penal colony since Botany Bay. Then she agrees to help a guest whose last chance at saving his civilization could bring death and disaster to all Dina holds dear. Now Gertrude Hunt is under siege by a clan of assassins. To keep her guests safe and to find her missing parents, Dina will risk everything, even if she has to pay the ultimate price. Though Sean may have something to say about that!

I really enjoy these books. Small, Fun, Simple. scratch that, less simple but great. it strikes the perfect balance between being easy to understand and having new complications from the magic or the characters that never feels off or completly out of nowhere
This story progressed the plot but asked a couple of important questions near the end that really make me excited

This book started with a couple of False starts in that i thought the book was going to be about X and then it wasn't. But it was good, it kept me engaged and I like the path of the book.First Maud and her Daughter. I did call that she would fall in "love" with Arland and that they would go together. I felt proud of calling that. but that was an easy shot. Helen her daughter was super adorable in every scene. The Hiru and Draziru. I kinda thought that something like it was going to happen, but i was really impressed with the decisions made in the book and the way it went.Dina. surviving the death of the Inn. wowow. just amazing a representation of grief that is real. Her getting together with Sean Evans. Finally. love it. Also who is SEBASTION NORTH is it the CAT, Is it a Coincedence. what is the Innkeepers council going to say? What really happened to her parents. TELL ME!!
I will be talking about it on Libromancy 07/04/2021 https://libromancy.podbean.com/
I want to live at Gertrude Hunt! I love Dina, I love Sean, and I love everything about this story.

Another unique installment in The Innkeeper series. As in the past books, I enjoyed reading about the characters and learning more about Dina's family. The plot was pretty interesting and I always appreciate that Dina's Inn is the focus of the interstellar setting. It lends a cozy vibe to the series and provides a layer of reassurance that no matter how kooky the plot becomes, the book always has a focal point.
I don't think the writing was above average, however. It did the world building justice but lacked in other, mundane areas, like transitions, character communication and pacing.
