This is a Children's Historical Fiction novel that touches on true events of WWII. As you probably know historical books are hit or miss for me but luckily this one was a hit.

I tend to enjoy Historical novels that tell a story about what it was like for people during the time and that's exactly what I got with this book. The portrayal of the events happening were very subtle and not graphic which I can totally appreciate considering its geared toward children but I would have liked it to be a little more in depth.

While reading I didn't really think I had any connections with the characters but toward the end some things happened that made me tear up a little.

I think it ended nicely but I was hoping for a reunion at the end that didn't happen. You're left to your imagination on how things worked out for certain characters which is ok but like I said I was really hoping for a reunion.

Overall I really enjoyed this and would recommend everyone read it at some point in their lives.
