Odes to the music industry classic artists are enjoyably woven throughout as part of the backdrop for the tale centered on the young, broke artist and his band. The detail that which the author describes each piece of a band's lifestyle is great and there is a very distinct writing style that works for the picture that's painted. Was suprised that the mystery was the minor part and more of the background to the tale versus the murder being the main focus with the backdrop of the mid-90's NYC music scene. A feeling of never quite getting off the ground or building to a climax. Was also a very conspicuous Donald Trump drop into the B plot for a bit that seemed like it didn't dare to go far enough if he was to be inserted at all.
