DNF. As much as I enjoyed the book-within-a-book in Magpie Murders, it didn’t do much for me here. I didn’t care for Susan Ryeland as the protagonist and didn’t feel the normally intrigue and curiosity that I normally feel from reading murder mysteries. Not a terrible book, just a disappointment.

Another fun twist of a book. Really enjoyed the audio of this one!

The sequel to Magpie Murders sees the welcome return of Susan Ryeland, Atticus Pund, and the book within a book. Brilliant murder mystery with many twists and turns.

Why on earth did he construct it this way? A story in a story etc. It does not make it better, just more confusing and drawn out. Will not finis this book. Funny how a writer can write such different stories, some awesome, some just so-so.

Maybe 3.5. The main mystery was intriguing, but I thought the book within the book was tedious.
