Message in a Bottle

This is a very sentimental story and I'm glad I finally read it. I'm not a mushy book kind of reader so that's why I only gave it 3 stars. I had a hard time getting through the middle of the book but I had to know how it ended. I had a great time talking to my son about how it would end if he or I were writing it. We are a little off keel.

I picked up this book at a yard sale thinking it would be a great, light-hearted read during my summer vacation down in the Outer Banks. Boy was I wrong! I really didn't like the ending and I feel like it could've had so much more potential, but here we are. I felt like the rest of the book kept me entertained enough to enjoy reading it without much regret though, to be fair. Luckily I'm fairly used to stories not ending the way I hoped they would. After all, it's not my story to begin with! I would reccomend Message In a Bottle to anyone who enjoys the genre whilst knowing that not every one will have a fairy tale ending.

This year I am working on reading the 8 books of his that I have yet to read and Message in a Bottle was one of those books. I did read some of his books a long time ago but I couldn't remember which ones. When I started this one I thought it had sounded familiar and I felt that way up until the end. Needless to say I thought wrong because I would have remembered that ending.

This book reads at a steady pace and like all of his books portrays life and love realistically in my opinion. Life and love is unpredictable and you never know what will happen or when it will happen.

The 2 main characters are both flawed and handle certain situations not so great but that's what makes his books so relatable. No one is perfect and no one handles every situation perfectly.
I stayed up past my bedtime last night (I am writing this on January 25th) to finish this book. By the time I finished it I was in tears. That ending had my heart racing and gave me the chills not and did I mention I was crying. I'm a happily ever after kind of girl so when I closed this book I looked at my husband and said I don't like it. Which I did love the book I just wish it would have ended differently. Not that the ending was bad or anything but yeah I am sure you get my point.
