"Mallory's mother died fifteen years ago. But her father's last words on the phone were unmistakable: "Find...mother." Shame and confusion have kept Mallory Davis from her home for the last fifteen years, but when her dad mysteriously dies on his mail boat route, she doesn't have any choice but to go back to Mermaid Point. Mallory believes her father was murdered and childhood sweetheart Kevin O'Connor, game warden in Downeast Maine, confirms her suspicions. But Kevin is wary of helping Mallory in her search. She broke his heart--and left--without a word, years ago. When Mallory begins receiving threats on her own life--and her beloved teenage daughter, Haylie--their search intensifies. There's a tangled web within the supposed murder, and it involves much more than what meets the eye. As answers begin to fall into place, Mallory realizes her search is about more than finding her father's killer--it is also about finding herself again...and possibly about healing what was broken so long ago with Kevin. She just has to stay alive long enough to put all the pieces together."--publisher.

Reviews with the most likes.
I've never been a fan of romance novels so I would never have picked this book up if I hadn't seen a review posted during a book swap game I was participating in. I read the review for this book and decided I wanted to read it. I read the first book first and it was great. I liked it better than this one but this book kept my interest too. I like the mystery and suspense more than the lovey-dovey parts but I definitely will be finishing this series and looking into more books by this author. Now I have to make myself finish the other books I've started before reading the third book in this series.
I received this book from the author/publisher for the purpose of this review. All comments and opinions are entirely my own.
Mermaid Moon is book 2 in the Sunset Cove series and it is an exciting addition to the story! I loved how Colleen brought in the characters from The Inn At Ocean's Edge and let us finish their stories as well as starting new stories with new characters.
The plot was full of twists, turns and unsuspected surprises that kept the book firmly in my hands. The characters were well made and described well enough that I could “see” them easily. Colleen Coble has an eccentric imagination that never fails to entertain as well shock with her stories. I was immensely pleased with Mermaid Moon and cannot wait for book 3!
Things that should be mentioned are not unexpected to the reader who read the synopsis, but I'll mention them anyways. There is a murder that is not “shown” however the body is found and there is some detail that might make some queasy. However, it is relatively low key when compared to other murder mysteries. There are also some background stories involving premarital sex however these are only briefly mentioned/hinted about so you don't have to worry about unnecessary scenes.
Overall, I rate Mermaid Moon by Colleen Coble 5 out of 5 stars! Thanks so much for reading!

I loved this. Full of the best type of angst!!
A second chance, teacher/student, MM romance.
I was so curious to learn about why Derek and Jordan were always at odd with each other after seeing them in Finley's book 1 in this series.
There was a lot of time jumps but overall this was done very well. I almost needed more but it was also the perfect length without getting too much.
Jordan is who is is and won't apologize for it. Derek is a tough guy with a grumpy exterior just trying to make it through the day. He leaned on Jordan during a tough time, and they kind of never gave that up. Years passed and still Jordan was the light in his life. His person to lean on and help share Derek's burdens.
This was wonderful and beautiful and a good representation of opposites and learning how to communicate feelings.
