Poor writing, felt fake, especially compared to other memoirs much more skillfully written and with much more self reflection and vulnerability. Read like the author was telling her story rather than showing with little detail or sophistication, attempts at further meaning and reflection that fell flat, sounding fake and forced. She tries to make it seem like certain events were much more meaningful than they actually were at the time, such as arriving in the U.S. 1/5.
