Probably my favorite book of them all to this point 4.5/5
I loved the lore and all the mix of little details of different cultures and religions merged in here.
I like the way Kate and Curran are learning to compromise to make it work, even though I still hold him to better standards because she deserves it. But I will be able to enjoy their dynamics because of compromise and communication.
Aunt B, Dali, Doolittle, Andrea, Raphael, Derek, and Julie own my heart.
I also think the conflict between Raphael and Andrea is needed, even if some of the arguments weren't. I want to see their relationship evolve and grow, and I root for them to become better people, individually and together.
I'm really enjoying these! Kate is awesome and the world is fascinating. Normally I find the alpha male thing annoying, but I kind of like Curran too.
This one was good too. I didn't stop and kept going so I didn't get lost in the mythology. I like that these book are pulling from myths I'm not familiar with.
Kate Daniels' past has caught up to her, and anyone associated with her is in danger. Kate was raised to be a loner, an outsider. Her instincts scream at her to run and hide. But now that she has built a life for herself, she will not go down without a fight to the death protecting all she loves. And this time it really might be the death of her. An ancient being has awakened and is terrorizing Atlanta with disease and death. Killing the leaders of the organized orders that hold Atlanta together one by one.
Fighting against an evil that is centuries older than her will not let Kate walk away without sacrifices. No matter what she does, her life is going to take a drastic turn. The Kate Daniels series never fails to keep me on the edge of my seat. Each of these books is full of action, magic, and destruction and I love every minute of them
It's been awhile since I read one of these books. I loved it!! I should just binge read them, but it's also like finding the series all over again if I space them out. These are some of my favorite characters of all time. And, I seem to find a new character to love in each book. I also love the world. I think it's interesting the way they go between magic and tech.
Sooooo good!
Sayang sekali penerbitnya kolaps sebelum serinya selesai.
currently on mobile so it is hard to type, but my largest thought of this book at the moment is that I keep loving this series more and more. I'm glad I stuck it out. Curran and Kate are awesome. not the healthiest relationship I'm sure but it works for them.
So I didnt wait for the ebook to come in, I may have driven up to a library and picked up the next 4 books, and placed the following 2 on hold for pickup. I am impatient, get over it.
Alright, so we start off with pretty much where book 3 left off, its been a few weeks and its time for the naked dinner!!! Well, just read the book, if you arent reading this series yet, I dont even know. I dont even know.
Curran and Kate make a lot of good progress with their relationship in this book. I freaking love it. I am fangirling so hard. It is a little embarrassing....
Magic Bleeds begins with Kate making (naked) dinner for Curran as the loser of their last bet. Let me point out how big of a deal this is for her to follow through with. Curran is late, however. Very late. Understandably pissed, Kate would love to go and have a word (or a sword) with him, but unfortunately she has to deal with the “Steel Mary”; a very powerful being who is wreaking havoc all over Atlanta. Cue a crazy, amazing story line that has officially become my favorite in the series so far.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I have a total crush on Kate Daniels. It doesn't matter how much of her I read, I have never felt more attached to a character. The bevy of emotions that Ilona Andrews has Kate go through in this book almost borders on exhausting. Poor Kate. However it's written so believably that I couldn't help but feel all those emotions as well. Anger, sorrow, terror, complete and utter happiness. Kate's character has grown so much and in Magic Bleeds we see a Kate who is actually working to keep her anger under control. I'm not saying it always works but, hell, she's trying! Little things like psycho killers just keep getting in her way.
This installment also developed the relationship between Curran and Kate and OH MY GOSH I can't even tell you how much in love I am with the two of them together! Those of you out there who tried the first book and thought that Curran was a bully and a jackass? Well, he is. At first. In this story though we get to see the side of him that has slowly been developing over the last few books. The Beast Lord can be sweet! He can be thoughtful. Oh and good lord can he be sexy. I'm fanning myself just thinking about it.
Book 4 and I'm still completely entranced by this series. Magic Bleeds far exceeded all the bars I had set for it, and I can't even tell you how excited I am to get my hands on a copy of the next one! Ilona Andrews has created a series that is witty, heartfelt, kick-ass and one that you'll want to stick with for the long haul. I can promise you, if you keep reading you'll be hooked. More please. I want more.
I've enjoyed this series so far but this installment was the strongest. The romance that has been building up between Kate and Curran finally reaches the point that readers have been waiting for and it is well worth the wait. I think what sets this series apart from others that feature kick-butt heroines and alpha heroes is the the fact that Ilona Andrews is a husband/wife team. The male perspective keeps the romance from becoming too mushy, makes Curran's POV realistic, and adds plenty of action (and perhaps a little too much gore, but I skim those parts).
Each book in this series has been better than the last, and Magic Strikes was so excellent that it was going to be difficult just to match it. Magic Bleeds did take longer than the third book in the series to really hook me, but once it got going it had everything I loved about the previous installment - great character interactions, lots of action, humorous dialogue and occurrences, a strong mythological basis outside of the ordinary, so many memorable moments and lots of references to The Princess Bride (and other literature but mainly The Princess Bride). It was one of those books that had me rereading parts I just read before moving on, and I didn't want it to be over. At times heart-wrenching, at times heartwarming, it was very emotionally gripping.
