I started my Ali Hazelwood journey by reading the first 2 books of the STEMinist Novellas. I enjoyed my time with those shorter books but I wanted to read a full length book by this author because there were things I was hoping I would get in a full length novel that I didn't get in the novellas.
In my reviews for Under one Roof and Stuck with You I mentioned how those books were about women in STEM but we didn't really get that side of things aside from the fact that the men sucked. I wanted a little more of what the women did. In this book there is a women in STEM and we actually got some of what she did in her job. Did it go over my head? Sure but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the book. It gave me exactly what I was wanting. It wasn't done in an over the top kind of way it gave me just enough.
This is an enemies to lovers romance which I love but it also has the miscommunication/not communicating trope that I don't particularly like however the banter the steaminess and sometimes awkwardness between the characters made up for it. I do wish that the women in her books would stand up for themselves a little more though. When it comes to them standing up to the male main characters they have that down pat but standing up to any of the other men now that's a different story. Overall I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read more by this author.
