This is definitely one of my top favorite reads of the year.
THIS. BOOK. WAS. AMAZING!
I flew through this in less than a day, it hooked me from the very beginning and I just couldn't stop. I loved it so much that I just had to have the paperback version... it should be here in a couple of days.
This is a bittersweet tale of love & loss, just not in the way you think.
Juliet lost her mother a couple of months ago. Declan lost his sister a few years ago. Neither of them handle their grief very well. Juliet closes up and won't let anyone in, and Declan lashes out by making horrible decisions and acts like a total dick. Declan gets sentenced community service at the local graveyard after he gets drunk and crashes through a store. Juliet visits her mothers grave often and leaves her heartfelt letters. Declan reads one of the letters and writes back. From then, they share a series of letters (& eventually emails) written back and forth. They tell each other everything and form a very strong bond.
I absolutely adored this book. The only thing that I didn't like was the ending, mostly because I didn't want it to end! Also, I wasn't ready to let these characters go. It ended rather abruptly and I think that a couple more chapters, or even an epilogue would have made this book perfect. I adored Declan because he had the whole bad boy vibe going for him, I liked Juliet even though she was a bit on the snobby side. I think that all of the characters were very well thought out and the plot of the story was very unique.
I will definitely be recommending this book to whoever I can.
