I LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS.

I know there's a bit of confusion and frustration surrounding this book, and I kinda see why but nothing in this story really bothered me a lot in terms of plot and types of characters portrayed. This book is a very easy read, you can pick it up and just read without having to really think about it, and I personally found myself wanting to get back to it over and over again.

I think the characters in this book could be one of those hate or love characters for a lot of people. I personally quite liked how all the characters in the book were portrayed, even if they weren't particularly likeable characters. I think they played off of each other well and sometimes it's nice to have a nice break from the textbook characters we see quite often, and I mean Jodi introduces us to elephant researchers who are obsessed with elephants so they're not your usual kind of character.

I've also seen a few reviews mention how this book went on too much about elephants, and I mean yeah there is a lot on elephants, but I didn't mind so much I like picking up random and weird facts in books sometimes and when else am I going to learn about elephants so much? Also, it was quite important to the story as it told you a lot about certain characters and their motives, and I think that's quite a nice way to do rather than just spelling it out for us.

I think also an issue with this book for a lot of people is the strange mix of concepts, I mean you have a really big focus on psychics and elephants - so if neither of those are your things then stay away. I personally quite liked that mix, I thought it was quite refreshing reading something quite different and I liked the take on psychics in this.

Overall, what I'm trying to say I'm not surprised some people really didn't like this and I'm not surprised some people really like this. I think it's a marmite book and I love marmite.
