So, I was hesitant going into this book because I have heard pretty much nothing but negative things about it. Luckily, I ended up liking it more than I thought I would but I did still have some issues with it. Overall I enjoyed reading this. I never felt like I was getting too much information at once and I never felt confused by the magic system. My issue with this book is that it felt like it was trying hard not to be a typical fantasy book and it just didn't quite work for me. I don't know how to explain it any other way. I definitely want to read the next book in the series.
