A short book, told in the words of Mukhtar Mai, written by a French journalist and translated into English. Reads well, and reads easily. No benefit in outlining the story here, the blurb and the other reviews will do that better than I will. A story in a similar vein to [b:I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban 17851885 I Am Malala The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban Malala Yousafzai https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1375414895s/17851885.jpg 24987300], by Malala Yousafzai. Both take place in Pakistan, both outrage the world, and both strong women challenge the situation rather than accept it. The difference is Malala was attacked by the Taliban, Mukhtar Mai was the victim of her neighbours and her town council, and their corrupt tribal laws dressed up as ‘honour crime'.
