Charlotte kommt ans wohlangesehen Dupont college, von ihrem kleinen bergdorf. Hochbegabt und mit preisen ueberhaeuft, hofft sie dort endlich freunde zu finden, die ihrem niveau entsprechen. Doch am college dreht sich alles nur um parties, sex und drogen. Dem gruppenzwang folgend laesst sie sich langsam darauf ein. Verliert ihre unschuld an einen fratboy, hoyt, der sie zuerst umwirbt und dann fallen laesst. Sie sinkt in eine depression, ihre noten leiden darunter. ein nerd-freund, adam, der in sie verliebt ist, hilft ihr daraus. und am ende ist sie in einer beziehung mit riesigen basketballspieler, ?, der aus dem dumme-sportler klischee ausbrechen will und in charlotte eine unterstuetzung findet.

I “read” this as an audiobook on my commute. I found large parts of it to be tedious ... going on and on and on when a few sentences would have sufficed. If I was reading it in book form I could have skipped ahead but on CD I had to either patiently wait for it to end or skip an entire track ahead, with the risk that I might miss a plot point. Which would have been unlikely because the plot doesn't move much. I didn't like the ending, either... or maybe the ending just made me disappointed in the character's lack of character.
