Hush, Hush

I honestly loved this book. The storyline was absolutely fantastic but there were times I wanted to strangle the MC so badly...

Writing
The writing was excellent and I (Forgive me if I'm wrong) didn't happen upon any spelling errors. The Author uses moderate description and paces the story excellently. The only problem I had with the writing had to be some of the lines revised my the characters (Elaboration on this matter can be found further down in the description)

Storyline
As I said before, I absolutely LOVE this book because of the storyline. It kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. (Let it be known that this might not be a good option for readers who do not appreciate or enjoy reading fantasy/fiction.)

Characters
Now here is where the book truly annoyed me. Most of the characters were excellent and the Author portrayed them in an outstanding manner. The only true problem I had with one specific character was her dialogues at certain areas in the book.

I liked the main character, Nora Grey, in the beginning of the book, but further on she started annoying me with some of her actions and commentaries. When getting into an argument she truly did not know how to reply or defend herself. Of course this is most likely because that is the way the Author wanted to portray her MC but for some people, myself included, it got annoying after a while. (You have these awesome comebacks in your head and yet Nora replies with something so anticlimactic you have to face-palm yourself.)

My feelings about Nora jumped from absolutely adoring her to wanting to hit her in the face with a brick.

Conclusion
If you are a patient reader and you enjoy fantasy and fiction this is definitely the book for you!

It was a really interesting concept. I really enjoyed it, but sometimes Nora was really needy and annoying. Patch was always trying to be a little too bad ass, but was overall a good book to read.

This book is angsty Twilight (as if you thought Twilight couldn't get any more angsty...pfttttttt, you were wrong!) It even has a similar title font, for gods sake. Not much originality with this one. Basically, it's Twilight, but creepier (not in the eerie kind of way, in the freaking weird kind of way), and the MC is just as bland and annoying as Bella.

This is the book that made me fall in love with reading

It's so bad i wanted to claw my eyeballs out when reading. WHY tf did the author use punctuation like that??? It made me so fucking mad like what was the need. Worst book i've ever read.

um. no. let me sum it up for you: a 6000 (personal estimation) year old supernatural creature with a super boringgg back story who forces himself on a 16 year old quirky girl

Sentía que estaba volviendo a leer el clásico fanfic de romance sobrenatural (con la chica “buena” y el chico “malo”) que además tiene un sinfín de otros clichés. No estuvo mal, la manera de narrar era muy fácil de seguir y no era pesada. No me cayeron muy bien Nora y Patch, pero tampoco los odié y en algunos momentos me sacaban una que otra carcajada (sobre todo por parte de Patch). De los otros personajes no hay mucho que decir, no me gustó nada la amiga de Nora, Vee y a los demás ni siquiera los recordaba en algunas ocasiones.
En conclusión, fue entretenido y divertido de leer, y si me dejo picada.

I don't know why I'm surprised. I've had this book on my TBR pile forever. 3 and 1/2 hours into it, and I'm calling it. It has a feeling of a wannabe Twilight with a really dumb heroine. Several times Nora has said something like, “I have two choices here,” when there's an obvious and adequate third choice. Yet we're told over and over again she's really smart. I'm desperate for some reading material, but not that desperate. One star feels too generous.

Would have given this three stars if the chemistry between nora and patch had been written better. Seriously there is no reason given for either of them to like/love the other one. The build up was sloppy and the characters choices made me angry too often.

oh my god.....

there were so many plot twists that had me literally say “oh my god” or “what?” out loud. this was very well written and i am excited to read the second book.

but first... let's talk about patch.

I was bored while reading this book. Didn't care much about the characters, didn't care much about the plot. It felt very similar to Twilight at times and I just felt uninterested.

It's 4am and I just finished binge reading this book and I honestly don't even know what I read. 3/5 stars because it was interesting (?) enough to keep me reading until I finished the book but wtf was that ending?

Jules obviously plays a big role and the author tries to hide that in the beginning but at least give the readers some time with his character before the big reveal.

Nora. Fucking Nora. Sometimes I wanted to bash my head in because she was just so stupid. The choices she made and the rationale behind everything. And her lack of care that she might be going crazy because of her hallucinations. And her mom! Another thing that's annoying about many YA books is the lack of a real parental figure, her mother is only there when it's convenient for the author.

On a positive note, unlike many YA books that have a popular bitchy girl, the one in this book wasn't completely annoying but that's probably due to the author barely mentioning the character.

Patch was ... somewhat likable in his dark and intriguing way. I know I said Nora was stupid but I can see why she was attracted to him AT FIRST. Once shit hits the fan, you usually don't trust the man who's a likely suspect. I think he also made a rape joke at one point so that's obviously a negative.

Overall I'm not sure how to feel. I'll sleep on it and have a better idea when I wake up.

Wow, I'm still speechless to how terrific this book was. One of the best I've ever read? YES.

This novel is filled to the brim with creativity, and a summary that will hold your attention even past the last page. I was really absorbed in Nora's story and her character felt so alive and real to me. Even by the first few sentences in the book, I was already hooked. And unlike some books that start out great, and eventually lose my interest, this one did the opposite. I was craving more of the story the closer I got to the end. And I actually read the last chapter extremely slow, just so I could savor it that much more.

The twist at the end was GREAT. I was definitely not expecting it. Throughout the book I kept making mental predictions of who could be the “bad guy” or villain, and I was way off the whole time, ha! But oh man, the suspense in this book was killer. With Nora being stalked by a stranger in a ski mask, out to deliberately murder her? Creepy! But addicting to know what would happen next.

Patch. The mysterious, sexy, bad-boy. He was one of the best male fictional characters - and I'd choose him over Edward any day! I loved how the author portrayed him, and kept him secretive. It made me long to know about his past, which he purposely tried to avoid talking about with Nora. Which brings me to my next point - their relationship. Wow the chemistry between them was so believable! Nora's a very smart girl with self-control, which I liked. She didn't throw herself at Patch, even though she wanted to, and tried logical thinking to stay away from him.

I can see how this book would really appeal to several readers. It's nice mysterious romance book for young adults.
For me however, it was painful. The characters really lack depth and aren't easy love, with the exception of Vee Sky who has a lot of interesting and charming characteristics. The romance is painful and way too intense for the fluffiness of the rest of the book. There is a lot of losing random cellphones to make the plot work and it just seemed like it was trying too hard.

Very much enjoyed it this third time around! Even more so than the last two, I think. I wasn't as confused about what happened and I thought it was a great storyline, really, I don't see why people don't like it aside from the typical YA stereotypes. But that just it, you know, they're there or they're not there, either way people complain.

I really loved it though.

My rating would've been higher, but the first 100 pages were terrible. On the contrary, The ending was fantastic. I will definitely be reading the second one soon.

I loved this whole series from the very beginning. Let's just start of by talking about the gorgeous cover, which illustrates everything that this book is about. It's dark, edgy and mysterious- all of these things are the essence of this book. Yes, I was attracted to this book through the cover but in this case the book's cover and the story are equally as alluring, in every which way.

This book was sexy, without trying to be. Fitzpatrick's writing is prompt and to the point, which makes for an intriguing, fast-paced read.

This first book, in particular, took me by surprise because it wasn't as it appeared to be from the beginning. When we first meet Patch and he seems to be interested in Nora, it seems like the very usual way in which books like these start. But, unlike Twilight, it wasn't just a plain “he-loves-her-she-loves-him-right-of-the-bat” kind of thing, no there was a secret about that which was revealed to us in the end of the first book and it made the whole story so much more intriguing and so much more satisfying when it was finally shown that they indeed did fall in love. It was that much more meaningful this way, when they finally did reveal it.

I also loved how complete of a character Patch was, especially him. All the characters were jumping out of the page at me but Patch did this the most. I think it's because of his quiet nature, mysteriousness and just plain edginess. I also loved that he was so secretive and that the author didn't lay out his whole life to us right off the bat. It made me keep reading, because I wanted to know what demons he had in his closet.

I loved that Patch was also flawed, obviously. He wasn't your typical “handsome gentleman type” who comes in and sweeps the heroine off her feet. No. He was so much more then that, he really made the book come to life for me, especially since he wasn't only edgy but had a sense of humor as well, his own. In a book as dark as this one, it was refreshing to have a few chuckles here and there.

Their dynamic was also great, I loved that even though they had rather opposite personalities, they ended up balancing each other out nicely. In this book opposites really do attract.

Also, the end of the book stumped me, completely. I did not think that the bad guy was indeed the bad guy, I guess I should just get used to always getting it wrong in most cases. Not that I mind, it makes for great exhilaration when I finally come to find out who the bad guy is.

And can we please spend a moment talking about Vee? Honestly, that chick not only made me laugh at her crazy dialogue but she also annoyed me at times too. I liked the fact that she reminded me somewhat of my own best friend, because that girl also annoys me and yet I love her for all her shortcomings and weird quirks.

In addition, the underlying conflict that is the glue that holds these books together was phenomenal. I loved that supernatural part of it, it was just the right amount of fantasy without going overboard and making it completely unbelievable. I mean, I'm not the biggest fan of fantasy but this book still seemed very realistic. It was like bringing a little bit of magic into ordinary, everyday life. It's weird to say, but I think this books trumps Twilight for me. Yes, I still love Twilight and it's one of my faves but this one tops the cake for me. I just wish there was a movie for this already or something, it would be so good.

All in all, this book is for anyone who likes dark romance and a story line that's one of a kind and quite literary out of this world. Becca Fitzpatrick made me a believer and usually I don't like reading all the books in a series, one right after the other, but in this case I couldn't put any of these books down, at least until I was done.

That was just exciting. I seem to have fallen in love with that book.

If anyone wants to know what my favourite series is, its the hush hush series. There is a reason ive read this series 5 times, its GOD TIER. Absolute masterpiece. I can see why people hate this series and I respect that but also I am willing to fight.
How can you hate this series when the taco chapter exists? Unbelievable.
You can hate this series all you want but if you hate the taco chapter.. we can't be friends. I'm sorry.
