An Adorable Graphic “Novel” for Children
This book is nothing like I expected, in the most delightful of ways! I thought this would be similar to a childhood fave of mine, Walt & Pepper, as they have similar concepts (a dog and cat believe are often annoyed by each other but discover they get along and have a friendship). This, however, isn't so much a children's book with a blatant story as a miniature graphic novel with dialogue between Hudson the dog and Tallulah the cat. The artwork is gorgeous and the story charming, following the pets along their adventures as they partake in fun shenanigans and a small dispute, which quickly resolves upon finding common ground.
I plan to read/show this book to my young relatives, who I think will find this just as charming as I do!
Hudson and Tallulah have a relationship that is fraught with conflict. They seem to disagree about everything—the mailman, mud, fences, garbage, chasing butterflies. But then the two find common ground. Maybe they can be friends after all—at least, occasionally.
A delightful early reader story, with big bold illustrations, about the ways dogs and cats—and maybe even people—can come together in friendship.
