i mostly enjoyed this book, especially because i went in without any expectations at all. the main characters are interesting enough and the world around them definitely felt alive.
i was also intrigued by the world building the power dynamics/societies in this world.
the pacing was a bit off sometimes though and i feel like some scenes were s bit unnecessary while other necessary scenes were over way too quickly
but in general i think this is very enjoyable and entertaining, even if it has its cliché moments
Jon Skovron makes a superb entry into the fantasy genre. Hope and Red at it's core is story about it's characters and not so much about world building. It's the interactions between the protagonists that leave a trace and want to make you discover how to futures will bring them together in the future. Onward
