This is a sort of fictionalized memoir about growing up the American child of Muslim immigrants in post-9/11 America. It has some real moments of brilliance (especially the stuff about Trump) but the author seems insufferable and the way he wrote about women drove me up the wall.

A novel that reads like a memoir, and who knows what's fact and what's fiction? In any case, it's fascinating, beautifully written, and incredibly insightful.

This was so well written and fascinating. I learned a lot. I felt frustrated not knowing what was memoir and what was fiction, but this is brilliant.
