The twist had me pacing around my room. Loved this book and the creative images inside made the whole experience immersive
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was my first read from Jason Rekulak and im sad to admit it sat on my bookshelf for a year (during my reading slump). Great pacing, interesting story, and likeable characters. I wasn’t expecting the twist but I liked it a lot! Epilogue was kind of sad but still hopeful so that was great. My first 5 Star read!
I enjoyed this story very much despite Mallory getting on my nerves a little bit but sometimes you need the protagonist to do crazy things to push the story along. So in that case she did her job.
I appreciated how quickly Mallory identified that something was up with Teddy and was adamant about getting him help and getting to the bottom of what was going on. I didn't have to read pages upon pages of her being in denial or oblivious. I like when protagonist are sharp and quick to jump into action.
While I didn't completely work out the twist I knew something was off and suspected something out of the ordinary to be at play.
The ending was super tense but I found the conclusion of events to be quite satisfying.
Best book I've read so far!! I partially predicted 1 aspect of the ending but WOW the way the ending unfolded was great! This book has multiple twists that are explained thoughroughly. The drawings add a nice/creepy touch. Great spooky read 🎃
I got to about page 330, to the “confession time” and realized I did not care.
But I finished so I should get a medal.
Wow, just wow! I am blown away by the writing in this book and did not see this plot twist coming!
I have not read a book in a single day in a long time! Excellent mystery thriller with a bit of supernatural thrown in. This one had twists I did not see coming. Well drawn characters and perfect pacing. This one is worth a look if you enjoy mystery/thrillers.

I read this novel as part of a Kindle challenge as it was on a ""Best of" list they were featuring. So glad I read it as it was an engaging page turner. I particularly appreciated the 1st person narrator as I found her exprince of the challenges of early sobriety to be believable and endearing. The other characters-with the exception of the Dad in the story- were also relatable and ones I wanted to get to know though the plot. I think the best part of the book for me was the inclusion of the drawings that the kid in the story made. seeing these rather than just having them described in the text made it much more engaging and enjoyable.
I definitely didn't see that ending coming. This was a good read, It was a little slow in the middle, but overall I had a good time.
This is the best book I've ever read! I couldn't put it down. It had me hooked from the first couple chapters.
Giving this a 3.5/5 stars because I started off this book with expectations of a mind-blowing plot twist that would have me staring at the ceiling thinking about how I didn't piece it together first. It's a good read, don't get me wrong, I personally think it's a very predictable book and I'm not a huge fan of supernatural + thriller which also loses brownie points from me (which is a me problem understandably). It was captivating though, I just wanted to know what happened in the end. This is also my sign to calm down on the TikTok recommended books. (This book was just not my cup of tea unfortunately)
2.5 stars. It was well paced and a quick read. The pictures really added something interesting but the twist was weird. In particular there were some weird thing's that were implied about “liberals” and a weird statement about transgender people?????
I'll be honest it was confusing!!!!

“Hidden Pictures” marries a slow burn horror with intoxicating thriller results. Sadly, transphobic undertones sour the experience.
oh my gosh this was so good. it was scary and the twist at the end totally surprised me!! i also cried at the last chapter, i got so attached to the characters lol
Mallory Quinn is a recovering addict and just gets a job babysitting a kid who has an “imaginary” friend. He really likes to draw pictures of them together. (Already getting Paranormal Activity vibes) Mallory really likes her job, especially since she's getting to stay in their guest house but then things start to get weird. She has lucid dreams and sees strange things in the dark. She talks to the old neighbors to find out the history of the house. The more information she's gathering she eventually realizes someone is trying to tell her something. As the story progresses the books takes a WILD shift that I was not expecting and I suspect most people didn't since it won a 2022 GRs award. Really enjoyed it and I would recommend to anyone who likes thrillers or mild horror.
Listened to this book on audio and the narrator did such a good job capturing the ominous suspense of the story.
This is the sort of book I think I need to do an audiobook for. This sort of mystery, horror, thriller only works this sort of way for me. There is a certain rhythm. I sort of had a sense of the twist but they really push that intensity up
Mind. Blown.
If there's one book you need to read this month, read this one. The paranormal element elevates this book to another level. And the drawings – the drawings are the true essence of Hidden Pictures, ones that make this book stands out on its own. The drawings are creepy, but beautiful at the same time.
And the way the author got us hoodwinked, or sidetracked, eesshhh. But above all, the plot twist. Oh the plot twist! You'll be so surprised, you would have to pause and reevaluate every single word you've read.
This book is one hell of a read.
Ahhh I really wanted to like this book but I'm 80% through and it's...drumroll ✨ transphobic ✨ it's problematic in other ways but there are more accurate and in depth reviews on the page. I really liked the concept of the pictures, but the anti-leftist, fat phobic, TRANSPHOBIC propaganda was just
