3 stars. A mix of stories that embraced the format and stories that didn't. I skimmed some but there weren't any I really disliked but I did not enjoy the “here is my entire backstory” type thing like if you're trying to sell something, try to get it done without the mouthful. It's a very easy read though. Some of my faves below:
HELP FUND MY ROBOT ARMY!!! by Keffy R.M. KehrliA Memorial To The Patriots by Jake Kerr: An example of a more serious story here.Seeking Support for a Writ of Habeas Corpus for a Non-Human Being by Samuel Peralta: I have mixed feelings because I liked the concept but I don't think I liked it in this crowdfunding format. Or it was more charity than a product which is fine but sold as a product? I might have missed the point.HELP SUMMON THE MOST HOLY FOLDED ONE! by Harry ConnollyLarping the Apocalypse 2: The Nano-Plague by Tim PrattLocally Grown, Organic by Kat Howard: #cannibalismUpdates by Vylar Kaftan and Shannon Prickett: a project about crowdfunding updates. Maybe on the nose but so funny and relatable, especially for those who have had problems with quiet creators. As in the author bio, "Shannon Prickett is a huge fan of Kickstarter, despite having now waited 2.5 years for a promised reward for backing a particular project." Same, Prickett, same.
