The third-person POV and the story structure that hands off perspectives/protagonists works for, and at the same time against, this novel- The charaters are well developed and the journey over time gives the reader a true sense of the brevity of it all, but its even unclear who the main character that is supposed to be driving the narrative is. The story beats themselves could also be considered a bit cookie-cutter, or even a little boring and predictable, outside of a few dramatic moments. And while it was very readable, the writing is a tad simpleton, without much clever or creative turn of phrase and with a lack of depth to the prose.
