“When pleased, I beat like a drum. When sad, I break like glass. Once stolen, I can never be taken back. What am I?”

THE GOOD:

Jest: The Court Joker also known as Jest was one of my favorite characters. To me he was perfect. I loved everything about him. He's nice, the perfect gentleman, noble, plus it doesn't hurt that he is magical.

The Ending: The last half of the book is what made me really enjoy the book. I was literally on the fence about whether or not I was liking the book throughout the first half of the book but once I was a little bit over halfway through it it had me. The ending broke my heart. If you have read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland you already have an idea of what is going to happen but you don't know the circumstances that lead to certain things happening and those circumstances were heart breaking to me.

Cath: I am so torn on this character but the one thing I cant deny is that the changes she goes through at the end of the book are so realistic and so believable based on what she had gone through.

THE BAD:

The King of Hearts: I really didn't like the King at all. I mean how in the world did he ever become the King? He never does anything Kingly he just lets say he just plays. He throws parties he doesn't actually help keep his people safe he was just a coward and he got on my nerves so much.

Other Characters: Aside from the King Caths parents got on my nerves as well especially her mother. I guess with the Era this is in their “ways” were normal but they were so infuriating to me.

Cath: Yes I am putting Cath on here twice. Cath to me is just a spineless whiney teenager. She talks a big game but never follows through. She doesn't take responsibility for stuff that was so obviously her fault she just try's to put the blame on everybody else. It wasn't until the end that she actually stood up for herself and even then she was... well lets just sat the way she treated certain characters was wrong and I my opinion unwarranted.

The First Half of the book: There wasn't a whole lot going on in the first half of the book. It was a lot of talk about opening a bakery and Cath being her whiney self. In all honesty the first half was pretty boring in my opinion.

I have gone back and forth between giving this book 3 or 4 stars and in the end I finally decided on stars. I liked it but it wasn't the greatest to me. Unfortunately it just didn't do it for me.
