I tried to be forgiving because this is an older book, but wow I just can't.
Steven as a romance lead is horrible. He says he has no time for his sons who obviously need him and he doesn't make time. He also hasn't hired a nanny so his travel-loving aunt is stuck raising his sons (essentially) although she should just tell him to hire a nanny instead of throwing wife-candidates at him ESPECIALLY since he is determined not to marry again. Steven is also super quick to judge what type of woman Jenna is. One day of knowing her and she is immediately a marriage possibility for him thus sending his life into chaos.
Jenna... 4 hours in and we barely get any time with her. She's a saint and perfect and loves her students, but outside of school I don't know much about her.
I was also hoping for more time spent on the mystery and not Steven's “woe is me” angst or people telling him he needs to get married again for the sake of his boys – which again, product of its time.
The thing is, I could totally keep listening to this audiobook, it isn't horrible and the narration is pretty good. Quality is good. What is bad is I keep rolling my eyes at how outdated everything is socially. So, this is a “me” problem.
