Always a blast re reading the Harry Potter series very nostalgic for me. This series is hands down one of my all time favourites
This book is just cozy and nostalgic to me and I wish JKR wasn't such a terf because I will always be a Harry Potter kid at heart
My favourite from my younger days. Love love love everything about this book. The story is so simple but so well written. All the characters have so much depth to them. Also the following books really do so much to fill in the gaps. It is a wonderfully planned series. I am planning to binge on the entire series soon, followed by the movie series, too 😊😍
Really enjoyed this book! Surprisingly, I never read this series so it's my goal to do that this year.
I was shocked by how quick the pace was. It really only felt like there was maybe even one chapter of downtime. I know the books get longer as the series goes, so l'll be interested to see if that changes.
From my knowledge of the movies, I found it fascinating how many things are mentioned in this book that pay off at the end of the series.
Happy New Year!
Good german training
Sadly i'm not 12 anymore so story and characters feel a bit lacking
Beautiful writing. Enjoyed the character introductions and how the story was told. Great read, onto Chamber of secrets now.
Immersive world-building and skilled storytelling with likeable characters and delightful surprises. My first time reading this as a 30-something-year-old and I can tell why people have loved this series so much.
It feels a little silly to review a book that, at this point, everyone has read, but I'm going to do it anyway. This book is a delightful coming-of-age story with lovable characters and an inventive magical world that the reader gets to discover alongside the protagonist. It's a classic for a reason.
Age range: 8+
Other than the potential for a few years shed by younger readers on their 11th birthday, no concerns here.

I really liked it. Everyone told me it's good and I had high expectations going into it, and I wasn't disappointed. I wanted to end the Dursley's though. The pacing was very good, I like when stories aren't too slow. I don't really know what to say, about it except the fact that I liked the book. Hermione was a little irritating at first, but I learnt to like her pretty quickly. I like Ron's bluntness. Snape sucks, I don't care if he tried to save Harry or not, he still sucks. I will say, the end did feel a little underwhelming, but I'm not particularly bothered by it. And lastly, if there's anything I want from the book, it's the cloak of invisibility.
4.5/5 stars! it was a good read.
Second time through, a few decades later, and it's better than I remembered.
going through this again for the first time in years, especially during everything going on with the author, I didn't expect to like this, let alone find it pretty delightful. it's got all of the flaws that become pretty glaring later on, but it feels like a kids book in a way that kind of makes most of those flaws moot (with the exception of the way jk's awful identity politics already worked their way in). it's just a goofy little book about kids going to a magic school!! Wish a TERF didn't write it!!
První Harry Potter mi přišel nikterak špatný. Krátce se setkáváme s Ginny, která je ze slavného Potterovic chlapce úplně paf, první polovinu nadáváme na Hermionu, která dodržuje školní řád...
I started the saga with the third book, which was difficult to put down. I must have been between 6 and 8 years when I was gifted the first book, and I tried to read it many times but I rarely went over the first few pages. And through the years I said to myself “okay, let's do this, let's read it once and for all”. Long story short, it took me around 20 years, give or take. Definitely the most childish book of the saga, but that's part of its power, isn't it? We grew with the characters and the story, book by book. I guess that's the most magical thing about it.
Let's be honest, these books are why we all enjoy reading. As terrible as JK is
Great Children book
When I was a child I missed the harry potter train and now that I am in my 20 I decided to give it a go and once and for all read the harry potter saga. And I enjoyed it, I understand because it was a hit among my friends when we were 10. It is clearly a book targeted at kids, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. It is an excellent story for the whole family.
I would recommend this book to parents that want their kids to get started on reading. Read it with them such that you can comment on It and bond with your child.
This was my first time reading harry potter and I can't remember a time where I have laughed so much in a book. Can't wait to continue the series!
