The suspenseful third installment in The Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins, New York Times bestselling author of The Hunger Games! With two prophecies fulfilled, Gregor is now focused on the Prophecy of Blood, which calls for Gregor and "the princess," Boots, to return to the Underland to help ward off a plague. His mom agrees to let them go -- on the condition that she travels with them. When they arrive in the subterranean city, the plague is spreading -- and one of Gregor's family is stricken. Only then does he understand his role in the prophecy. He must summon all his power to end the biological warfare, or the warmblood creatures of the Underland will die. The adventure continues in the third book in Suzanne Collins's New York Times bestselling middle grade series.

This Gregor book didn't capture me quite as much as the others, but still an exciting tale. The characters are charming and I look forward to hear where the adventures go from here.
The books are still quick reads but the series is starting to feel a bit slow. It's the third book and it's only taken a few months in the timeline of the story.
Just like the Harry Potter series you begin to notice Gregor & his books maturing. With Gregor & the Curse of the Warmbloods we find more heartbreak, more death.
Collins has never shied away from death. It seems someone has died in every book so far, but sometimes there are things worse than death, especially in a children's book. But she handles things with care and dignity and that underlying moral that one should find when reading books like this.
Gregor's mother gets her experience in the Underlands. And I can't say more without spoiling so much that there is to spoil in this installment. It is easy to see that Gregor is so much more grown up now than he was just months ago in Gregor the Overlander!
