The second book is even wilder than the first. Darrow is out of the institute, but the challenges and power struggles are nowhere close to over. He now serves the man who ordered the execution of his wife, the father of the gold woman he's growing to love. Darrow struggles to navigate this world of greed and power without becoming a monster himself. The betrayal by Darrow's poet friend Roque broke my heart, but I loved the deepening of his relationships with Sevro and Mustang and the new friendship with Ragnar. I love Ragnar so much. I loved watching his transformation when Darrow finally treated him as a man, an equal. It made me love Darrow even with all his struggles to be a good friend and good leader.

A satisfying sequel to red rising! Fast moving story, spectacular action made for epic tv (someday) I can totally imagine iron rain being an episode.
There's something still missing... or perhaps a bit off. But I enjoyed the book, and want to complete the trilogy.
Golden Son is another riveting triumph in the Red Rising series. Just as captivating as the first book - full of twists and turns and engrossing you in this lush world that Pierce Brown has crafted. I might have to start Book 3 this weekend.
10/10. Absolutely stunning. It's been a long time since I've been through such a whirlwind of emotions and have each scene matter. Excellent
The fact that Darrow didn't ask for any of this. He just wanted to do right by his wife after she was wronged. God.
I'm officially obsessed with this series.
This is addictive! Probably the most addicting book I read in 2023. I wanted to keep reading this book every chance I got. Can't believe it took me this long to start the Red Rising series.
The twists and turns, the action scenes, the character work... it kept me on my toes and I LOVED it.
I don't think I would have finished this book without the audiobook going alongside it. I think I tried reading this book 2 times before this and basically DNFed it at the make point in the book. I still don't know what is the disconnect between me and Pierce's writing. I definitely enjoyed this book more than the first one in the series. The ending was pretty epic not gonna lie. I just can't seem so care enough for these characters for me to give his books higher ratings.
A level up from Red Rising in every single way. Such a bombastic book with so many incredible scenes. A few things I didn't like as much prevented this from being a full five star read but I totally get why people love this series now.
9/10
Actually it's 4.75 ⭐ because I could see and predict some moves. But it's so so goood
You know there is a character imbalance when in a war council nobody is able to think of a plan so everyone naturally turns to Darrow.
Yet nobody blames him when he does not stick to said plan or manages to sacrifice most of his elite force because he didn't want to kill an innocent little girl.
The amount of friendship power and trust bullshit is naruto-level.
The pacing is very slow, had me bored most of the book.
Characters felt better in the first book.
What the hell is a RipWing?
To keep a narrative going once the premise is set is probably a more difficult task but Brown pulls it off with aplomb. He makes it feel like this was always a planned trilogy which itself is an achievement. While it might have felt it was getting a bit stretched, we see new characters and interesting ones too along with a bit of mystery on who is pulling the strings. All in all a superb follow up
Ancora più bello del primo, la saga ormai mi è entrata nel cuore anche grazie al gioco da tavolo
