Ghostwater

An alright instalment. Entertaining, as usual, but the usual gripe with believability within the world itself - our main guy surely is undergoing the most rapid advancement of anyone, ever, in this universe.

I really enjoyed this book - especially the progression that Lindon went through here - can't wait for Book 6!!

Ghostwater is probably the best so far of the Cradle series. Liden, Orthos and Little Blue are trapped in a pocket dimension full of treasures and dangers of all kinds. If they can survive however it can greatly boost their advancement. Outside Mercy and Yerin must navigate the dangerous factions as they try to advance themselves and find another way inside the Ghostwater to save their friend.

Pretty well written and the new characters introduced are a wonderful addition thus far.

Now this is what we all need, no more whining Lindon, no more this ungrateful, whatever is so...so......and whichever alibis he can come up with, still I felt Lindon was always cheating, his life has always been hard, from being an Unsouled and all he had to go through until he is now a Lowgold, and always that catastrophe looming before his future and how far he would have to be to avert that cataclysm, I have always seen him scheming, thinking on how to further enhance his skill level, naturally from being a nobody, now to being sonething, his mindset is really different, he has to be ahead of his competition, his goal, the reason to his “cheating” again in Ghostwater we see that, does it make the story better........Yes, I want to see how high Lindon can reach, but hopefully something that involves his true ability, his thinking, but not this, I am so weak, pathetic line of thinking, I wish to see him use all this newfound ability, “wisdom”, make use of everything that he has been taught, seen and so on.........

Silly of me to think otherwise, this series has been out for a lot of years, and I want to think, hope that it can change or Lindon can change, when the series is almost at its end, that is how invested I am with this..........

A lot of levels, a lot of really powerful figures, Heralds, Monarchs, Dreadgods and finally Suriel's level, this is what makes this series interesting, a veritable “zero to hero” story...........

Truegold........and now the next chapter “Underlord”...................

The setting of this one was particularly neat – a bubble world set underwater. Plus we meet Dross who is just the coolest.

Not sure why this one has such a high rating. It was fine. Probably my least favorite since the first one. Too much Lindon and not enough of the actually compelling characters like Eithan and Yerin. The addition of Driss was welcome, though. As was a character finally pointing out to Lindon that power can't be the only thing that keeps him going.

Mostly, though, this was just the equivalent of a training montage in a movie. It should make the sixth more exciting, but I was utterly underwhelmed during this one.

This is one heck of a series

This has been a few glorious days reading from the last few days. I thoroughly enjoyed all myself in the time of reading. Will is a glorious mastermind and keep coming with these fantastic ideas out of no where. Looking forward to the longer series, because the end goal is no where near the completion.

Executive Summary: Another strong entry in this series. It started a bit slow, but got really good by the end and now I'm stuck waiting for the next book to come out.

I made the mistake of starting this book right before Battle for Azeroth came out. That was unfair to this book. It sat unread for basically 2 months because my reading time was sacrificed to my WoW addiction.

Once things finally settled down, I jumped back into this book and really enjoyed it. I wasn't sure how I felt about the pocket world of Ghostwater. It felt like a side story. However by the end I came to see that it's likely going to have some very implications on series moving forward.

I continue to enjoy the way Lindon approaches things, and this book didn't disappoint on that front. The supporting cast continues to be great. I didn't like nearly Skysworn as much as Blackflame, but I loved the addition of Mercy. She continues to be fantastic in this book. I'm really hoping that Mr. Wight has some more great stuff for her in store.

And that's adding to an already great cast in Yerin, Eithan and especially Orthos. Plus this book added another new character I have about a million questions about in Ziel. I hope he continues to play a role moving forward as well.

Overall this series continues to be a delight. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys Shonen.

The book was enjoyable and engaging, but mainly because of the context and work done by the previous books.

We finally get to see Lindon advance to the point where he actually stands out and is not just an underdog that has to trick his way past the opponent.
On the other hand there was no plot advancement at all. This was essentially equivalent to a typical stage in video games where you just take a break from the questline and just grind for levels and hunt for loot in some isolated dungeon.

Looking forward to the next book and hope something significant actually happens plot wise.
