Maggie's dead husband has set her up to take the fall for his crimes. Now she is on the run from the real criminals and the FBI wants answers. She has none.
Joe's partner and best friend is dead. The only one who has answers is the one he let get away. Now he just has to get them from her anyway he can.
Shivers. (giggle). It is so hard for me to review an author that I love. I love Lora Leigh. So I will automatically confess that I have all of her books and she is an automatic read for me. I am biased - fair warning.
Lora Leigh brings all of the tension and drama to For Maggie's Sake (St. Martin's Press, 9781466857070, 2016) in trying to find out the truth. The sexual tension between Joe and Maggie combined with their past makes for heady temptation. Add in the feelings that never went away and there is your drama.
The mystery as to the hows and whys of the criminal activity are just as fun to unravel. The adrenaline and danger bringing out the alpha male we love so much in a Leigh character. The question of who to trust is a common theme in Leigh's books and we never know until the end.
I think due to the size of the book or maybe the audience it is written for the sex scenes are not the usual explicit or dominating ones we are used to seeing in Leigh's books. The scenes are still satisfying; they may seem a little vanilla to long-time readers.
For Maggie's Sake is the usual Leigh fare with sexual tension, drama, action, and mystery. This time it is just in a smaller package and I do not mean Joe's (laugh). ✶✶✶✶
