I was also pretty excited to read this one. I adore the movie, like Matilda. Though I think I would pick the movie again, just because you get more time with everyone. The book was straight to the point, which is fine, but I would have liked just a wee bit more.
I don't think I've actually read this book (or any Ronald Dahl books), but I have seen the films and can only vaguely remember. Thinking from an educator's (secondary) perspective, maybe I'm thinking too hard, but I do like Badger's questioning of Mr. Fox's actions and balancing between what is right and wrong and the ethics behind every or certain actions. It's a silly book and still fun, regardless. I want to see the movie again!

I was caught up between two intense books. One that talked about the real harsh truths of this world and the other philosophising the transcendental. Amidst this chaos, I took an hour off and finished this gorgeous little break book Inna corner at crosswords today.
Ah, the familiar quirkiness of a good Ronald Dahl, it just felt like the perfect break from all the adulting and just the escape from reality I needed. Some books are timeless and this one came in at the right time :)
Having said all that, the story is quite meh. Pick up some other exceptional Dahl books before you come for this. Won't say this often but the movie (by Wes Anderson) is better.
I enjoyed it. I listened to the audiobook read by Chris O'Dowd and between his enthusiasm and the sound effects, it was an interesting and enjoyable listen. But I was expecting it to be a little more interesting. At least it was a short story. I expect a bit less from them because they take less of my time.
Another fantastic (like Mr Fox) Roald Dahl book. A suspenseful book that kept me (and my son) interested to the end as we followed the fortunes of the Fox family trying to stay one step ahead of the farmers. Highly recommended for children.
Read it in one day to my four year old. He was fascinated and wide eyed the entire time. Then, at dinner he called his juice “strong cider” and talked about how it made his mouth and belly burn :).
Read this for the first time since i was a young child, after recently watching the new(ish) film. Still a classic childrens story, and one I still very much enjoy! I look forward to having my own children one day who too can enjoy Roald Dahl's wonderful storytelling!
Read this with my 8 year old. We both enjoyed it. He said he would MUCH rather live with the foxes than with the mean farmers.
