Essentialism vs Non-Essentialism.
Definitely not a bad reading, but could be summarised in 3 or 4 weblog posts.
The essence of the book is to give the reader a(n additional) point of view to clarify their priority in life and be careful how they are investing their resources in it. For me, the most important takeaway was this sentence: “Our highest priority is to protect our ability to prioritise”.
The book also describes three steps which need to be followed to act as an Essentialism:
- Explore: how to evaluate matters and choose from them, and how to make it easier
- Eliminate: when deciding what it's important, how to free up your resources for your priorities, by eliminating the “trivial many” for “vital few”
- Execute: how to organise your life so you can stick with your priorities.
