So mediocre it hurts. I think reading fantasy has made me a harsher critic of romance in general. I love best friends dad, age gap, forbidden goodness and add in some mafia and I can't say no. The tropes in theory were perfect but that's about where the perfection stops.

The tension was nonexistent but I liked it, that is simply why this is getting two stars. I listen to this via audio and hearing them go back and forth and the smut was entertaining for about the first 60%. The plot was god awful and MMC was horrid. Some of the things that came out of that man's mouth was ugly. And I genuinely didn't like that the best friend just didn't care? Like no shock? That is a part of the whole forbidden aspect that it is... forbidden but when no one cares it's not forbidden?
