Tara Westover wrote a thesis about Mormonism as a social movement rather than a religion; this book has a similar analytical quality. It's deeply detailed and moving but focused on her family as the engine that drove her, away from what she knew and into a new life. If there's a sense of inevitability, it's only because you can clearly see how smart and driven she is before she admits it to herself.
