I love all of the Eve Dallas books, and outside of a few of them (which can mess with me a little) they're my go-to rereads to download onto my ipod when I need a book and forgot to bring one.
At one point Eve mentions meeting Roarke “three years ago” and it amazed me that there have been 44 books taking place over 3 years! Also, when will Peabody and McNab get married and have babies?! It's gotten to the point now where the cases to solve are background to me hearing about the lives of the characters I've come to love. The case this time though was harder than others, which was the point. But now I'm all caught up and I'm sad. Luckily, the next book comes out soon! ;)
Not my favorite book in the series (you can't win ‘em all). Too much slow procedural and not enough of my favorite secondary characters such as Peabody and McNabb. The last 75 pages are stronger as the plot quickly ramps up to the climax. Hard to believe I have been reading this series for more than 20 years. I still enjoy it but this book first bored me and then gave me literal nightmares.
