I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book started off really good – we have Abigail learning to be independent and even out maneuvering someone following her. Then there is Vasili who I thought would be more academically minded and would be more than just a powerful and dominating guy. I had such high hopes... until they met each other. After that first meeting the book went downhill for me.

They do the insta-love thing and after them only knowing each other 10 hours with Abigail SLEEPING for most of it, she thinks:
“Vasili was a part of her now. No matter what happened, he owned a piece of her heart.”
Are you SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?!

And yet they continue to bear around the bush of liking each other and them somehow not getting together.

Abigail ends up just being there and not doing anything while Vasili becomes macho man who takes down everyone for her... because he loves her... without knowing anything about her... sigh

Look, I do generally like the soulmates trope – I do, I swear, but I prefer if it starts with that pull and they “just know” and then come to learn more about each other and build a deeper bond, proving the soulmate bond correct. We just don't get that here.

So I won't be going back and reading more of this series. If you like dragon shifter romances then you might want to give this one a try, you might be more lenient with the romance than I.
