Divine Rivals

I feel like I've read a completely different book to every other person who has reviewed this book.....I just don't get the hype at all.

I liked Roman as a character but Iris just felt so flat and I didn't believe how quickly they fell for each other after Iris found it was Roman writing her letters.

The fantasy elements felt so underdeveloped that when they were mentioned they felt out of place for the vast majority of the story. They could have been removed and it barely would have changed anything.

In my opinion, this would have worked better as a historical romance with the typewriters as a magical realism element.

I'm so glad this works for so many people and I'm clearly in the minority, but for me it was just trying to be too much and didn't pull it off.
