I read this for a Romanceopoly prompt this year and I don't think I would have ever picked it up if it wasn't for this yearly reading challenge. This is the second book in a series and I haven't read the first book. I didn't feel like I was missing anything by not reading the first book before picking this one up so therefore I'm pretty sure these can be read as standalones but don't hold me to that.
This is a gargoyle romance and I was very skeptical going into this one but in the end I really enjoyed it. Way more than I was expecting to. The 3 heroes are Gargoyles and the Heroine is a witch. I was skeptical about how a relationship would work with Gargoyles but it actually ended up working really well and didn't come across as unbelievable. I loved the romance and it was pretty steamy. All of the characters are with each other in this one and I just loved all of it.
There is a bit of a side plot having to do with an ex (well he's not really an ex it is someone she went on one date with) and he can't take no for an answer and he because the villain of the story. I didn't necessarily hate this side plot I just think it needed to be worked into the story a little bit better. I big on things being well balanced in my books and this wasn't all that balanced with the overall story in my opinion. The other thing that kind of got me was that there were bits sprinkled in here and there that were a bit cringy but overall a very enjoyable read and I want to go back and read the first book now.
