Book Review: Death of an Irish Druid by Catie Murphy š
Rating: 4 stars
I recently finished Death of an Irish Druid by Catie Murphy, and itās a solid addition to this charming cozy mystery series. The story follows Megan Malone, a Dublin limo driver whoās looking forward to some well-deserved time off. Sheās excited to show her American friends the beauty of Ireland, but her plans quickly take a dark turn when they stumble upon a dead body in a holy well. ššš
The victim, Seamus Nolanādubbed āthe Irish Druidā for his somewhat controversial efforts to rewild his estateāis found under suspicious circumstances. While the local police are quick to label it an accident, Meganās gut tells her otherwise. Sheās no stranger to the complications of amateur sleuthing; itās cost her personally before, but this time, with Nolanās estate possibly slipping away to his opportunistic uncle due to some outdated laws, Megan feels more compelled than ever to uncover the truth. šµļøāāļøš²āļø
What I really enjoyed about this book is how this author weaves together a mystery thatās not only about solving a murder but also involves family drama, environmental stakes, and unexpected twists like a rival conservationistās sudden advantage and a surprising toxic element on the estate. It keeps you guessing and adds depth beyond the usual whodunit. ššæš„
Also, I have to mention the bookās coverāitās absolutely gorgeous and perfectly captures the mood of the story. The setting throughout the novel really shines; I felt immersed in the Irish landscape and culture, which added so much to the reading experience. The characters are well-developed and relatable, and the plot is tight and engaging without feeling rushed. šØšš®šŖ
All in all, Death of an Irish Druid is a great read that Iād definitely recommend to fans of cozy mysteries or anyone looking for a fun, atmospheric story with a clever mystery at its core. Iām looking forward to more adventures with Megan Malone! šāØ
