Dead Ice

Although I liked this book, I do feel that the story was a little predictable. There was very little character development but I love Anita and in my eyes she is still as strong and unstoppable as ever. Loved Edward/Ted being involved. Micah's family was interesting and I would love a short novel about the visit when his Dad is better. I don't have issues with the poly relationships because she has begun to work out how everyone fits in her life. I prefer when the books lean more towards the work and her relationships then the sex scenes but I'm a fan from the beginning of the series and will remain a fan even through the tough spots that bother me. Can we please get to a point where explanations for every characters personality is a little briefer. I feel like if you don't know who and what her main men/women are you need to go back read a few of the earlier books. But her books can stand alone without the rehashing of everyone's story. I say this because I will take a break from time to time and come back to the story three or four books in and if I'm a little lost I just go further back for info no big deal. I can even check something out at the library to bring me up to speed. So enjoy, it is one of the best paranormal suspense series in my opinion.

Definitely the best installment that has come along since LKH's earlier books. I was shocked but pleasantly surprised at how little sex there was in this one. I liked learning about how Anita's current relationship dynamics are working right now and I'm not mad that we didn't get the big wedding in this one. I'm excited to see how things go with the new people that might be added to her domestic circle as well as the growth in the necromancy powers. That's something that I really enjoyed getting to know more about.

Anita's Marshal duties were kind of horrific to read about and I'm learning that that part of the books could really classify this series under the horror genre. I think a lot of books in this could be classified as such but they've all been put under the umbrella of urban fantasy. I'm not mad about it but it's definitely something to think about.

I can't wait for the next installment and to learn how all the characters are doing.

A third of this book was fantastic, two thirds was Anita dealing with her dysfunctional relationships. As always the non-relationship parts of the book are interesting and fun, the other part however. While Hamilton writes a good story, in an interesting take on the supernatural world, perhaps a little less relationship horse crap would be appreciated. Kill Asher already.
