Just.. wow. This book is now officially one of my favourite books ever.

AHHHH THIS WAS PURE PERFECTION!! So whimsical and intriguing!! I was on the edge of my seat for the most part (the other moments were just me squealing at how adorable the romance was

3.75 Good but a little slow and too much romance for my taste.

Rating may change later. Ended up enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would, as the first 60 or so pages weren't great for me. However, if felt like the writing improve as the book went on and I came to enjoy the characters more, idk but I'm pretty sure I like it and will be picking up the sequel!

when i tell y'all this is THE book!!! it had me hooked from the start with the well-paced and thought out storyline and the more i began to root for xingyin the more wound up i got with the story. the plot got lost on me at times but i absolutely did not care because i was enjoying myself that much.

there's nothing i didn't love about this book, except maybe that it sets the filial piety bar a little too high, but that's just my trauma talking lol
