Taylor Jenkins Reid masterfully crafts an amazing atmosphere that places you in the time of rock and roll. She is able to make you feel immersed in a time and lifestyle that is so idolized today. She also uses her writing to create songs that feel real. I was able to see the development of the songs and how they came to be which made them feel like they actually exist. Her writing gave me an insight that normally I don't get.
Reid's writing also shines through in her depiction of her characters. All of her characters were flawed in one way or another. By using interviews Reid is able to show all of these flaws by showing her characters through other characters lenses. This creates well-rounded characters who mess up just like us.
Overall, this book was a very enjoyable read. The pacing wasn't my favorite and seemed to slow down and start up a lot which is just due to the nature of the formatting with little plot. The audiobook is FANTASTIC just like everybody says! 10/10 would recommend the audiobook for anybody who wants to consume this story.
