Wow! This book had some slow parts, but they didn't last long. So much information and twists! My heart was broken more than once and I'm still shook about the ending.
I think this series is good - moves fast, interesting characters. However the trope of the reckless and independent, yet highly skilled assassin can feel a little contrived at times. I just want badass competence.
Shit just got real.
better than the first one, in my opinion.
I am excited to continue reading.
Celaena is still arrogant and somehow even dumber, but still entertaining. Nehemia is unfortunately dead but I'm not giving up hope to see her again and I still love her (she's maybe my favorite non-evil character). Chaol is doing the godawful “now I have to protect you” thing when the only thing Celaena needs protection from is her own stupid ideas. And Dorian has magic when he shouldn't and develops a lot.
I like all the world building with the wyrdmarks and what they're capable of. Definitely want to see that fleshed out. And I really, really can't wait to learn more about the King.
I liked Yellowlegs a lot and that whole sequence was a lot of fun. Can we please flesh out the Witch lore?
Now I really, really hope Kaltain gets a chance to kill Perrington.
The scene where Celaena rescues Chaol from the rebel idiots then pummeling him to within a literal inch of his life was cool because you could see where she gets her arrogance from. You finally get a small taste of pre-imprisonment Celaena.
There was a lot of backstory and character development in this one. Definitely looking forward to seeing where it leads.
Great twists, lots of information and lots more new questions. Glad all secrets were revealed before moving onto the next part in this saga.
Again, slow to start off but finally got some action and then I was hooked. Looking forward to the next one!
I don't know how SJM does it but she never misses. This book is fantastic.
The characters are so easy to understand even if one has never been in their shoes. They aren't unidimensional, they're complex and make mistakes which makes them even more likeable, even more human.
Also, I'm enjoying the 3rd person + multiple POVs a whole lot more than I used to, maybe my taste has changed or it's just SJM's writing.
This is an amazing book. I can't wait to continue Celaena's story!!
The last fifty pages of this book fucking rocked. Baba Yellowlegs is a stupid name. Chaol is a bitch. Dorian is babygirl. Thank the wyrd I'm done with this book.
Holy moly! This book took turns I was not expecting and was NOT prepared for! I started to love a lot of the characters and when the second half of the book happened I really started to feel for the characters. This book is an absolute BANGER!
This book was like the ride Splash Mountain: it starts off slow and kinda boring like a lazy river with some little splashes that are a little fun but nothing much to mention. Then you get to the climbing. And suddenly you're plummeting down the biggest fall and screaming to where your lungs hurt and you're rising from your seat and then you reach a lazy river again and you're like that was the best ride ever.
Another 5 star read in this series. This one was quite different than the first book, but I think I still enjoyed it more even though I loved that one. I did figure out the ultimate twist pretty early but it didn't ruin it. There were still a lot of shocks I didn't figure out too. It was definitely a faster paced book with more twists and turns. I can't wait to continue the journey.
7.5/10
Part 2 was awesome! Some classic but fun fantasy elements even though everything feels kinda obvious. However, when rating this book, it is important to remember that part 1 is absolutely horrendous.
this book had me so emotional! From when Nehemiah dies onwardsi was a sobbing mess!Im so torn as to whether i prefer Dorian or Chaol to be with Celaena. I absolutely love both characters and really enjoyed the banter between them.
A thrilling sequel that builds upon the strong foundation of Throne of Glass. Celaena Sardothien, the cunning assassin with a hidden past, continues to serve the tyrannical King while secretly plotting her escape. This double life becomes even more precarious as new mysteries come to light and Celaena grapples with her loyalties.
Maas excels at weaving a captivating narrative. The suspense mounts as Celaena uncovers shocking truths, and the well-choreographed action sequences are both thrilling and brutal. We also see a deeper side to Celaena as she confronts her inner demons and the emotional scars of her past.
If you devoured Throne of Glass and craved more, Crown of Midnight delivers with its fast-paced plot, well-developed characters, and a world brimming with secrets waiting to be unveiled.
This was ok. I had a hard time getting into it and there seemed to be a lot of convenient reveals and leaps in characters that were a little out of nowhere. I'll try the next one out though because I still love the author!

A Celaena ainda mais badass que no primeiro, perfeita. Continuo a querer ser como ela quando for grande.
O Chaol é demasiado precioso para o mundo onde vive
While was an unsettling read because of a couple of violent scenes, it was also an intriguing read because of all the mysteries and puzzles our characters have to face, but it was also a cosy read - it was so comforting to go back to this world and these characters every time I opened the book. It feels like I started this book just yesterday, although it's been almost a month. Captivating plot, great atmosphere and intrigue, well-written characters. I got everything I could expect from this book. It was interesting, intriguing and captivating. There is a lot of action going on, there is some drama between the main characters. At one point I was super worried about the dog. It was really good and I can't wait to get to the next book in the series because I'm super intrigued what's gonna happen next and what SJM has in store!

Crown of Midnight was gripping all the way to the end!
I was so happy for Chaol and Celaena's new romance and sneaking into broom closets. It was a beautiful brief moment of happiness for Celaena.
But this, right here...
” ‘I think I'm happy for me, too.' And she was. For the first time in years, she was truly happy.”
I knew it was going to be short-lived. I was heartbroken in anticipation reading that.
There was action and intrigue throughout the entire book. I enjoyed experiencing more of Celaena's shear talent and abilities.
I feel like I should have liked this more than I did, but I feel as though I'm falling into a slump. If I weren't going into a reading slump, I would have likely given it 4 stars so that's what I'm attempting to do.
Edit: I'll be kind and give it 3 stars, even though it is painful to read and I never agreed with the romantic route taken
