Agent Pendagast is back again this time to solve a theft of a important wine collection. With the help of Constance Greene, they discover bones behind th wine cellar. Are the two connected, while they are trying to get answers theres a murder that brings sorcery front center.
Fast read, there
s a lot of chapters but very short filled with mystery and suspense. The last chapter will make you want to find out what happens in the next one.
Multiple intriguing plots.
Pendergast and Constance are solving the mystery rather than being the mystery and I prefer that.
One plot point was an important point in the book Smugglers Reef by Hal Goodwin/John Blaine.
I re-read this to get re-acquainted with the story line before trying to catch up on the Pendergast series.
I agree with the review by Bob Milne - I loved the first 2/3 of the book. the last few Pendergast books were OK but this reminded me of the earlier books and the reason I fell in love with Pendergast and Preston Child. However, the last 1/3 felt awkward. I ended up rolling my eyes as I finished the last page. Disappointing finish to an otherwise well told interesting story. I gave this book a rating of 4 simple because of the first 2/3 of the book. I really enjoyed that.
